Customer Types

What is customer types used for and why is it important to implement?

To setup a new customer type, it’s fairly simple:

Go to sales then customers, and click “Customer types”

Click “New Customer Type”

When creating a customer, there are a few reasons why its important to categorize your customers such as:

  • Data reporting and requests

    • Management will inquire at some point how many types of customers your business has such as whether they are retail, dealer, wholesaler, etc.

  • Marketing purposes

    • Customers could be classified as obtained through direct phone calls, through social media or through your website directly

  • Sales tracking

    • Customers could be categorized based on salesperson to track commissions

  • Price rules

    • Specific customer level discounts can be applied based on the customer type
